Lily; beautiful living through faith
Lily; beautiful living through faith
If you bought a copy of Lily in Spring 2006, that would be two of us. I can't find any record that it existed, not in a news release or a demise story, although one of the columnists does list her article on her vita. I suspect the field--soft Christian with parenting advice, health tips, decorating and recipes, was just a bit over crowded. It sort of has that Oprahish, scrapbookish spiritual look."From the editor" by Wanda J. Ventling: "I, too, have a heart for God, and it has been my desire to create a widely available Christian-lifestyle magazine that meets both spiritual and practical needs since I wrote a business proposal for one in college.. I believe God planted this seed, and He has been faithful to bring an incredible group of people to nurture Lily's development." Ms. Ventling's name appears on several other Meredith publications as a writer or editor.
Articles written by well-known Christian authors such as James Dobson, Gary Smalley, Joyce Meyer; includes book and movie reviews.
One of the tips is in the lower left corner of the cover, "Meredith Specials." Sometimes these become magazines, sometimes not.

I recently found my copy of Lily Magazine ... so I must be the other one who bought it! I thought it was a lovely idea, but apparently it didn't sell.
No, there are at least three of us. I too have a copy and was looking forward to more - but nothing came of it. Too bad.
Today, I found information about Lily Magazine. I am saddened to find that I am not able to subscribe to this. I would gladly have purchased gift subscriptions as well!
mpkljohnson@yahoo.com
Ex subscribers have mentioned receiving the following email:
"Publication of Lily has ceased and there is no plan for further publication in the future. We apologize for any inconvenience." Saw it on a few message boards actually, southernliving among them. The best alternative I could find is the new hallmark magazine. After some research the best deal I could find online to subscribe was at http://offto.net/hallmarkdeal/ already received two issues and it is really awesome. Check it out, I'm glad I did.
I just re-read my copy of Lily magazine. I must be the third or fourth person who has this. Too bad it ceased. I thought it was very nice; beautiful pictures, too. I loved the families in the stories, especially the cover family, the Terhaars.
I love my copy of Lily magazine. I'm so sad it didn't continue. It was so nice. I hope the editor some day sees these posts so she can see that people were touched by the magazine!
I love my copy of Lily magazine too! I was looking forward to the next issue! I still have it after all these years and read and re-read it. I found this sight, just looking to see if possibly there was a site that advertised it. I guess there's no more.
I keep my copy with my recipe books because I make the Herb garden Ciabatta bread on page 88. It is delicious. I re-read the articles while I wait for the bread to bake. Wishing the magazine had a chance....it was wonderful.
I was just looking up to see if this magazine was somehow ever reprinted, etc....and found this little blog. I too LOVE my copy of Lily magazine, I must have looked through it a million times! I keep it because I LOVE the idea about book binding as a heritage present:) Too bad they didn't sell more, I definitely would have subscribed!! PS - when I got the magazine I wasn't interested in the bread recipes, but have recently discovered a love for break making....so I will have to try these recipes!
Sorry to say that I am one of the ones that purchased it, then lost it in my move; out of town. I was so.... Hurt when I realized that after unpacking, my much sought after, and well loved magazine, had some how disappeared."
If you know anyone that is willing to sell theirs, I am offering a good cost to replace my lost one. I have been putting requests into the editor, who is now the founder of: Life Beautiful." It is a wonderful magazine, also. I also contacted Meredith, but they say they were no longer carrying the cover. Sadly, the former owner Wanda J. Ventling (Liliy Writer) has moved on.
If you know anyone that has extra copies or is tired of the one they have, please let me know.
Thanks,
Fredagates@live.com
I was so fortunate to pick up a copy of this wonderful magazine. I have been hunting everywhere for a subscription too and found this little blog. Why is it that there are tons and tons of smut out there but when a truly lovely magazine like this one comes along it gets printed once and then nothing??? I live in Des Moines, the hometown of Meredith so perhaps we should all write letters protesting the demise of Lily?? At any rate, I will search Ebay, a great source for finding lost items. Blessings to all you Lily readers.
Hello Everyone, I too have kept my copy of Lily Magazine. I frequently go back and reread it. I found it so inspiring. I just checked into the "Life Beautiful" Magazine and discovered that Wanda J. Ventling is the Editor of this Magazine. I have never read it, but I plan on checking it out. It is an inspirational magazine as well. Maybe Wanda moved on to start this new magazine.
Please check out lifebeautifulmagazine.com
Editor Wanda Ventling carried on the legacy of Lily through Life: Beautiful. You can read about her journey to start this magazine there as well. I'm sure you will be glad to see this mag up and running!
I too purchased a copy of Lily and love it...somehow mine got wet and the pages are pretty wrinkled...I am here in Crete, Illinois and would have definitely purchased a subscription....I will be checking out the other magazine at
lifebeautifulmagazine.com
that you all are talking about. Thanks for this blog post!
Hello Everyone, Lily magazine is now being sold as "Life Beautiful". You can find it by simply putting in"Life Beautiful" into your search engine. (Google, Yahoo, etc.)
Happy Reading!
I still have my copy from Spring 2006. Wanted to send subscriptions to my mother for her birthday. I'm so disappointed, it was refreshing to see a Christian that could compete with Martha Stewart!
I had a copy of it too.. Loved it.. Now you can find it called Life" Beautiful Magazine. www.lifebeautifulmagazine.com They also have a forum, it needs some attendees but could be a fun place to meet up...
Add me to the list who cherish their copy of Lily. Something different stands out each time I go through it's pages over the years. It's a real keeper! The bread looked especially good today, I'll need to try my hand at the yeast again. I want to post the scripture on page 46 from Isaiah for the fridge. Even though it was only one issue, it continues to comfort and encourage. I'm so glad to have it.
I, too, loved Lily: Beautiful Living Through Faith magazine, and wish it had continued. The editors now publish Life: Beautiful, Faith For Your Journey magazine, but I've had a lot of problems with delivery on my subscriptions :(
I was so excited to find my copy of Lily while cleaning a bookcase. I knew I would not have gotten rid of it but I hadn't seen it in awhile. It is very comforting to see how many of us re-read this magazine. My husband has offered to have each page laminated for me:)

I the Life: Beautiful premier issue and every issue after that! The magazine is out 4 times per year. This past year (2014), they were going to put out a one time only wedding issue, but that hasn't happened yet.
Lovely magazine, although they may go digital - not enough subscribers.
I think because it's a family-run business, many times, they don't deliver to stores on the promised date, so you end up running around trying to track it down. I've found it at Barnes and Noble and Wal-Mart. Note that I prefer purchasing the magazine from the store vs. a subcription, which can arrive beat up.
I just found my copy too. It's too bad this magazine didn't survive. We need more publications like this.
Life: Beautiful is still going strong in 2016 since 2007 (the magazine that replaced Lily).
If anyone is interested in SELLING THEIR COPY OF LILY, please reach out to me. I would like to add it to my Life: Beautiful collection -- thefaheysest2007@gmail.com
Have you also seen Set Apart Girl magazine? It was an online magazine for years but now a printed copy. Check out their Web site - www.setapartgirl.com. They currently have five (5) printed issues out.
No, 4 of us, I lost my copy while relocating to Iowa. Never found it again
Gifts and Talents described two ladies who create beautiful silver crosses in the first and sadly, the only issue of Lily magazine. My issue had been lost for years when today I finally came across it. The crosses are available from Trinity Collections (internet). Now I am searching for Life Beautiful magazine. Wonder how many magazine owners of Lily there are?
Blessings to you all. My name if Lilli.
